This week we started a limitation project. This can mean limiting yourself by only using a certain kind of material for your art, or a certain topic, colors, ect. My limitation was to make something out of candy-corn. I decided to stack them up in a way that they will eventually form a corn stalk. Some problems that this limitation causes is gluing the candy together. I have been using hot glue to stick them together so far, but I found after it drys, the candy corn unsticks from each other for some reason. So because of this, I have had to be gluing an excessive amount of glue per piece of candy-corn, causing this project to be a lot slower moving than i thought it would be. I believe that the final piece will turn out fine however, and be shaped like a corn on the cob.

For this project, we had to observe something around us, and create it. It could still life, picture, scientific, figure drawing, landscape. My idea was to do a stippling of a dolphin jumping out of the water. Since it had to be artist observe, when I went to sea world this past summer i took a picture of a dolphin jumping out of the water, so I decided to use that since i took the picture myself. I just stippled it onto a piece of white watercolor paper. I did the dots in just a black felt-tipped pen. It turned out pretty well but I wish I had done something in color because it is kind of bland. I did stipple the waves in the background however though.
My definition of stealing in the artist world is taking someone else's artwork and making it your own by adding other aspects to it; my definition of copying is just outright doing the same exact artwork as someone else has done with no alterations. For my final project, I drew a big Starbucks coffee cup on a piece of art board. Since the project was artist steal, I copied a picture of a Starbucks cup off of Google. Next, to make it my own, i decided for the logo on the cup, instead of the Starbucks mermaid being in the middle of the logo, i would put Ariel from Little Mermaid there instead. Then I painted it with acrylic and sponged the background brown to make it look like coffee beans. I really enjoyed making this project, however I feel like if I had done it on canvas it would have come out better; the canvas like board i was using was very hard to blend colors on and ad depth to. I would definitely do this project again.
